  • Device Information: IP address, device type, operating system, and browser details.
  • Cookies and Tracking: Information about your interactions with our app to provide personalized experiences and analyze trends.
  • Clipboard OTP Facilitation: To simplify the login and sign-up process, we offer a feature that allows users to copy OTPs to their clipboard for easy pasting into the app. This data is not stored, retained, or used for any purpose beyond facilitating user input.

  • Data from Linked Services: Information from linked services (e.g., Google) used to enhance the app experience.

    • Use OTPs (entered manually or pasted via the clipboard) solely to verify your identity during login or sign-up. Verification is initiated only when you press the "Verify OTP" button.

3. Permissions Used

3.1 WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE:

    Purpose:

    The app may use external storage to facilitate features that enhance your experience, such as:

  • Saving and Accessing Files:Storing images, videos, PDFs, or other documents generated or downloaded through the app.
  • Sharing Files:Enabling file sharing through other apps or platforms, such as PDFs or images.
  • Caching Media: Storing cached media like images or videos to improve performance.

    • Scope:

  • The app only accesses files that are directly created, downloaded, or interacted with through the app.
  • It does not modify or access other files on your device.

    • Security:

  • Sensitive data is handled securely and is not shared with any third party without user consent.

3.2 How the Login/Sign-Up Process Works:

3.2.1 User Control:

The login or sign-up process begins only after you press the "Verify OTP" button. No SMS is processed until you actively initiate the process.

3.2.2 Choice to Discontinue:

You can choose not to proceed by simply not pressing the "Verify OTP" button.

3.2.3 Autofill Functionality:
  • When a new SMS containing the OTP is detected, the app automatically populates the OTP in the input field (autofill box) for user convenience.
  • The user must push the "Verify OTP" button to complete the verification process. This ensures that verification is only initiated by the user and not automatically triggered.
3.2.4 No Unnecessary Processing:

Only the specific OTP-related SMS required for verification is processed. Once verification is complete, the OTP is discarded immediately and is not stored or shared.

4.Managing Permissions:

You have the right to manage or revoke permissions granted to this app at any time. To do so, follow these steps:

  • Android Devices:

    • Go to Settings > Apps > Vidya Mine > Permissions. From here, you can enable or disable permissions like SMS or Storage.

  • Impact of Revoking Permissions:

    • Revoking certain permissions may limit app functionality, such as saving files or auto-detecting OTPs.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell personal data. However, we may share information:

  • With trusted third-party service providers for app functionality and improvements.
  • To comply with legal obligations or enforce terms of use.
  • In aggregated or anonymized forms for research and analytics.

6. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies to:

  • Track app usage and preferences.

7. Child Privacy

By signing up for Vidya Mine, it is implied that parents/guardian’s consent to the collection of information related to their children. It is assumed that the parent or guardian is signing up on behalf of their child or with the explicit knowledge and approval of the parent or guardian for the child’s usage. To ensure an additional layer of security and verification, the OTP-based sign-up process ensures that the individual registering the account is authorized and aware of the data being shared.

7.3 Implicit Agreement and Adult Supervision

By signing up for Vidya Mine, you confirm that you have the legal capacity to enter into a valid agreement under Indian law. The use of OTP during the sign-up process ensures an additional layer of verification, as mobile phones are generally granted to adults who are legally capable of supervising minors. This process affirms adult supervision and shifts the responsibility of providing accurate details and consent to the user.

8. Data Security

We implement robust security measures, to protect your information. However, no system is entirely secure. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

9. Data Deletion and Alteration

9.1 Data Deletion

You can delete your personal data directly through the app by accessing the delete option in the profile menu.

  • Standard Deletion Process: In most cases, users can delete their accounts and data without any additional steps. The deletion process is seamless and designed to ensure convenience.
  • Reauthentication in Rare Cases: In rare instances, such as during sample audits or when suspicious activity is detected, we may require users to reauthenticate their identity before proceeding with the deletion process. This measure helps ensure the security and integrity of our platform.
  • Re-sign-up Restrictions: To maintain the stability and security of our platform, re-sign-up to a deleted account may be restricted in certain circumstances, such as to prevent abuse from repeated deletions and re-registrations. However, users who wish to re-sign-up after account deletion can contact our support team or grievance officer at info@vidyamine.com for review and approval, subject to verification and compliance with our policies. This ensures that legitimate users retain access to the platform while safeguarding against misuse.
  • Data Retention: Certain information may be retained if legally required or necessary to comply with applicable laws.
